Dear Parents,

The start of school is just around the corner, so here are the things you need to know about how we begin the year. Our teachers come in for Faculty Orientation on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the 17th, 18th, and 19th. On that Thursday night, we have Parent Orientation for families with children in K3-6th grade. Kindergarten and Elementary teachers hold classroom information sessions at 6:00, repeated at 7:00, and they give excellent information regarding class routines, lunches, homework, field trips, and other things you won’t want to miss. This night is for parents. Then, we will celebrate our Open House on Friday, August 20th. The facilities will be opened at 12:00 noon, we break from 4:00-5:00 so that our teachers may have some time for dinner, and then we reopen from 5:00 until 8:00. You are invited to bring family and friends and meet your child’s teacher, visit the classrooms, ask any question you may have, and see some other friends you have been missing since the end of last year.

Remember to purchase any new uniform items you need for students in K5-12. The store has relocated a few blocks farther north at 1485 Highway 17 North in Mount Pleasant, 849-2657. Remember that boys may purchase khaki pants elsewhere, as long as they have belt loops, flat fronts, no patch pockets, and hems, not cuffs. This year we have added a long-sleeved white oxford dress shirt as an additional option. This shirt can be worn without a tie, with a Northside tie, or with other solid, stripes, and neat patterns.
For students in 7-12, only NCS outerwear may be worn between 8:00 and 3:05. Educational Outfitters offers vests, sweaters, fleece jackets, and inexpensive pullover and zip-up hooded sweat shirts. Other outerwear may be worn to and from school except items with Abercrombie & Fitch logos, or those of their subsidiaries Hollister or Aeropostale. This company’s marketing strategy is diametrically opposed to our Bible convictions regarding clothing.

Workbook and activity fee invoices have been mailed. We do all we can to control the prices, but the publishers increase our costs every year. We realize that this is an expense no family needs in this economy, but the items you pay for are essential for your child to get the best education we can provide. Please take care of these fees before Open House. Please feel free to delete the $43 charge for the optional yearbook if you do not wish to purchase it.

We have also mailed class schedules for students in grades 7-12. If you have any questions or requests for changes, please call us promptly. Final schedules, which include locker assignments and some room changes, will be awaiting you in the high school lobby on Open House day. We have spent much time insuring that your child is on track for graduation with his class, and that the assigned courses are appropriate for him.

Up-to-date immunization forms must be on file for every student in school. Supply lists for K3-6th grade were emailed. Finally, please find the annual calendar on our website at www.northsideministries.com. We have copies in the office.
Be assured that we pray regularly and diligently for our school families. We pray first of all for your spiritual wellbeing and growth as you raise your children to know, to love, and to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. These days we are also praying that He will protect your income and give you great wisdom regarding your stewardship of it. As difficult as things are economically, isn’t it wonderful to know that our God is good and that He is in total control, that nothing ever overwhelms, surprises, or even occurs to Him!

PS: We do almost all mass communication electronically, but this first and critically important letter we send in paper as well. If you have received this but did not get it also as an attachment to an e-mail from me, please contact the office immediately and give us a valid address. Otherwise, you will miss several important communications during the course of the year.
